U.S. Representative Becca Balint, who represents Vermont’s at-large district in Congress, posted a series of statements on her social media account addressing topics ranging from Black History Month to the recent release of files related to Jeffrey Epstein and concerns about immigration enforcement policies.
On February 2, 2026, Balint acknowledged Black History Month, stating, “Black History Month honors the courage, resilience, and lasting contributions of Black Americans who have shaped our nation. It also calls on us to confront our history of injustice and reaffirm our commitment to truth, action and progress. The fight for a truly just democracy”.
Later that same day, Balint commented on the handling of recently released files connected to Jeffrey Epstein: “The incomplete and insufficient Epstein file drop over the weekend outed survivors but kept their powerful abusers hidden in the shadows of redactions. That is not a coincidence when these files are 1.5 months past legal deadline. We deserve — and demand — better.”
On February 3, 2026, she criticized Republican lawmakers’ approach to funding Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), writing: “We warned Republicans that funding ICE with a blank check would create a paramilitary force to traumatize, brutalize, and kill Americans. We must impeach Kristi Noem, dump Stephen Miller, and put an end to this lawlessness.”
Balint has served in Congress since 2023 after succeeding Peter Welch as Vermont’s representative. Prior to her tenure in the U.S. House of Representatives, she was a member of the Vermont Senate from 2017 until 2021. Born in Heidelberg in what was then West Germany in 1968, Balint now resides in Brattleboro and holds a Bachelor’s degree from Smith College.
