U.S. Representative Becca Balint, who serves Vermont’s at-large district in Congress, has recently used her social media platform to comment on ongoing legal cases, national policy decisions, and federal funding for her state.
On April 9, 2026, Balint addressed the progression of a legal case involving Renee Good’s family. She wrote: “I’m glad this case is finally moving to discovery but Renee Good’s family shouldn’t have been forced to wait this long. They deserve full transparency and accountability, and Americans need to see our government protect them and not just those in power.”
The following day, April 10, Balint criticized former President Donald Trump over what she described as a “war of choice,” stating: “Trump starts a war of choice and YOU are literally paying the price for it. When Mike Johnson finally brings the House back next week, Dems will push for a vote to put an end to this. But we need Republicans to find the courage to join us.”
Later that same day, Balint raised concerns about anti-poverty funding delays in Vermont. She posted: “It’s unacceptable that the Trump administration is trying to hold up $4 million in anti-poverty funding for Vermont – funds that support 48,000 community members. @SenSanders, @SenPeterWelch, and I are demanding they release it immediately.”
Balint began serving in Congress in 2023 after replacing Peter Welch as Vermont’s at-large representative. Prior to her current role, she served in the Vermont Senate from 2017 to 2021. At age 54, Balint was born in Heidelberg, West Germany in 1968 and currently resides in Brattleboro. She earned her undergraduate degree from Smith College in 2001.
