U.S. Representative Becca Balint, who has represented Vermont’s at-large district since 2023, recently addressed two key national issues in a series of tweets: the War Powers Resolution and the Warner Bros. acquisition.

On January 9, 2026, Balint commented on recent Senate action regarding war powers, stating, “I was excited to see the War Powers Resolution pass the Senate yesterday, and I look forward to voting for it in the House. We need to be clear: Trump does not have a blank check for war. Invading other nations is under the purview of Congress.”

The following day, January 10, she expressed concern about corporate consolidation in the entertainment industry and its effects on consumers: “Mega-mergers hurt American consumers and line pockets in the C-suite. We need more competition, not less. I’m watching the Warner Bros. acquisition closely.”

On January 11, Balint referenced former President Donald Trump’s reported involvement in media deals with a brief statement: “Trump’s reason for interfering in the Warner Bros. deal: control over movie night.”

Balint succeeded Peter Welch as Vermont’s representative in Congress after serving in the Vermont Senate from 2017 to 2021. Born in Heidelberg, West Germany in 1968 and now residing in Brattleboro, Balint holds a BA from Smith College (https://www.smith.edu).
