Rep. Becca Balint, U.S. Congresswoman representing Vermont’s at-large district since 2023, addressed several national issues in a series of posts on her official Twitter account between March 13 and March 14, 2026.
On March 13, Balint commented on an incident in Michigan, stating: “The attack on the Temple Israel synagogue in West Bloomfield, Michigan was horrific. Attacking a synagogue is dangerous antisemitism. All who live in this country must be able to worship in peace and security. Targeting of the Jewish community must stop and we must be vigilant in”.
Later that day, she responded to developments involving U.S. service members and ongoing conflict, writing: “I am heartbroken for these service members and their loved ones.
This war of choice should have never happened, and it needs to end NOW.
Trump should be focused on lowering costs—not dragging us into yet another war.”
On March 14, Balint addressed issues of national identity and religious freedom: “We need to call out this anti-American rhetoric every time. We are a nation of religious freedom and we have to reject the notion that there are only certain kinds of people that are ‘allowed’ to be Americans.”
Balint succeeded Peter Welch as Vermont’s representative in Congress after previously serving in the Vermont Senate from 2017 to 2021. She was born in Heidelberg, West Germany in 1968 and currently resides in Brattleboro. Balint holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Smith College.
