Rep. Becca Balint, U.S. Congresswoman representing Vermont’s at-large district since 2023, recently addressed a series of political developments and allegations involving fellow lawmakers on her official Twitter account.
On April 11, 2026, Balint commented on recent allegations against Rep. Eric Swalwell: “The sexual assault and misconduct allegations against Rep. Swalwell by multiple women, including former staffers, are shocking, disturbing, and backed up by evidence. I’m heartsick for the women who went through this and grateful for their bravery in coming forward. I stand with”.
Two days later, on April 13, 2026, she criticized proposed federal budget changes under former President Donald Trump: “FYI Trump’s proposed budget would:
-Deliver a major windfall for the Pentagon
-Eliminate assistance for home heating and cooling
-Further cut the IRS
-Cut billions for housing
-Gut worker protection agencies
It’s a no from me.”
Later that same day, Balint responded to news of resignations in Congress: “I’m glad to see the resignations of both Representatives Eric Swalwell and Tony Gonzales. Their actions were unacceptable for anyone, let alone members of Congress.
It’s time for Cory Mills to do the same.”
Balint has served as Vermont’s at-large representative since replacing Peter Welch in 2023 after previously serving in the Vermont Senate from 2017 to 2021. Born in Heidelberg, West Germany in 1968 and currently residing in Brattleboro at age 54, she graduated from Smith College with a BA in 2001.
