Rep. Becca Balint, who represents Vermont’s at-large district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of tweets on December 16 and 17, 2025, addressing issues related to political corruption, intolerance within the Republican Party, and healthcare policy.

On December 16, Balint wrote: “Here’s the deal: Pay a secret seven-figure deposit into Trump’s ballroom fund. Get a president who rewards Big Tech. Unchecked corruption in antitrust enforcement will destroy American innovation.”

Later that day, she referenced former Secretary of State Colin Powell’s remarks about the Republican Party: “Remember when Colin Powell warned us of ‘a dark vein of intolerance’ in the Republican Party? It’s only gotten worse. We need Republicans to strongly reject this.” (December 17).

Balint also commented on recent developments regarding healthcare legislation: “After refusing to lower healthcare costs, and shutting down the government for 43 days, a handful of Republicans are finally joining us to support the extension of ACA tax credits.” (December 17).

Balint has served as Vermont’s at-large representative since replacing Peter Welch in 2023. She previously served in the Vermont Senate from 2017 to 2021 and was born in Heidelberg, West Germany in 1968 before settling in Brattleboro. Balint is an alumna of Smith College where she earned her BA in 2001.
