Rep. Becca Balint, a U.S. Congresswoman representing Vermont’s at-large district since 2023, has used her social media platform to address issues of injustice and civic engagement in a series of posts on January 16 and 17, 2026.

On January 16, Balint posted about Renee Nicole Good, stating: “Renee Nicole Good’s life mattered just as much as anyone else’s in this country. No matter how hard Trump’s government attacks us for resisting injustice, we will NEVER stand down.” Later that day, she commented on recent events in Minnesota: “Minnesota is the center of our nation’s heartbreak — but they are also the center of our nation’s courage. Every one of us needs to dig deeper and match their energy.”

On January 17, Balint addressed concerns over misinformation regarding Americans’ rights: “There has been so much misinformation about what we as Americans can do – so I got us a refresher. I encourage everyone to continue courageously exercising your First Amendment rights.”

Balint succeeded Peter Welch in Congress and previously served in the Vermont Senate from 2017 to 2021. She was born in Heidelberg, West Germany in 1968 and currently resides in Brattleboro. In addition to her legislative work, she holds a BA from Smith College.
