Rep. Becca Balint, who represents Vermont’s at-large district in the U.S. Congress, has recently posted a series of statements on social media addressing labor rights, constituent engagement by fellow lawmakers, and concerns about the use of artificial intelligence in healthcare coverage decisions.

On September 1, 2025, Balint marked Labor Day with a message highlighting the core principles of the labor movement. She wrote: “When you go to work, you should receive a livable wage. You should have health care and workplace protections. You should be able to join a union without fear of retaliation. These are the common sense demands of the labor movement. It is essential.

Happy Labor Day!”

Two days later, on September 3, 2025, Balint criticized Republican Representative Elise Stefanik for not holding town hall meetings in recent years. In her post she stated: “It’s been six years since Elise Stefanik held a town hall. SIX.

Glens Falls, and every district whose Republican member of Congress only cares about you if your name is Donald Trump, we are fighting for you! https://t.co/7CTWIisnHY

Later that same day, Balint expressed concern over reports that artificial intelligence may be used to determine insurance coverage for medical procedures. She wrote: “Let me get this straight: in order to see if your medical procedure is covered by insurance, the government will use AI to decide if it is really necessary??

For-profit companies will deny care for seniors and working people to get richer. Despicable. https://t.co/AY7Lxgex6O

Balint has served as Vermont’s at-large representative since 2023 after succeeding Peter Welch and previously held office in the Vermont Senate from 2017 to 2021. Born in Heidelberg, West Germany in 1968 and currently residing in Brattleboro at age 54, she graduated from Smith College with a BA in 2001.
