Rep. Becca Balint, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Vermont’s at-large district since 2023, has recently shared a series of posts on her social media account addressing issues ranging from personal matters to national politics and economic policy.
On November 10, 2025, Balint commented on the validity of her marriage in response to ongoing public debates about marriage rights. She stated, “Good. I don’t need a court to tell me my marriage is valid. After 21 years with Elizabeth, I KNOW it is.”
Two days later, on November 12, she criticized Republican lawmakers’ relationship with former President Donald Trump. In her post she wrote, “Trump says ‘jump’ and Republicans in Congress say ‘how high, sir?’ This is not an America First movement. It’s a Trump First movement.”
Later that same day, Balint addressed recent discussions about long-term mortgage products in the United States. She posted, “The only thing a 50-year mortgage would ‘solve’ is to get CEOs of big banks their 5th home and new yacht. Give me a break.”
Balint’s comments come as part of her broader record as an elected official from Vermont. Before serving in Congress beginning in 2023—succeeding Peter Welch—she was a member of the Vermont Senate from 2017 to 2021. Born in Heidelberg, West Germany in 1968 and currently residing in Brattleboro, Balint holds a BA from Smith College (2001).
