Rep. Becca Balint, U.S. Congresswoman representing Vermont’s at-large district since 2023, recently addressed issues ranging from housing affordability to economic stability and gun violence in a series of posts on social media.

On August 25, 2025, Balint commented on the use of technology in the housing market, stating, “Companies are using algorithms to jack up your rent. We have to end this practice and make housing affordable for working people. This is good news. Let’s keep it up.”

The following day, she weighed in on developments at the Federal Reserve, posting on August 26, 2025: “An independent federal reserve means as more stable economy for Americans. By firing Lisa Cook, Trump is trying to mess with that stability and have his loyalists installed instead. Yet another power grab.”

Addressing gun violence in America on August 27, 2025, Balint wrote: “I’m a mother and a teacher and I’m so sick to my stomach over this. Our kids are being shot in church pews. This is not normal. But we’ve let it become the norm. We have the power and the solutions to end this now.”

Balint has represented Vermont’s at-large congressional district since replacing Peter Welch in 2023; prior to her tenure in Congress, she served in the Vermont Senate from 2017 to 2021. Born in Heidelberg, West Germany in 1968 and currently residing in Brattleboro, Balint graduated from Smith College with a BA in 2001.
