Rep. Becca Balint, who represents Vermont’s at-large district in the U.S. Congress, has recently made a series of public statements on her social media account addressing national security concerns, immigration enforcement actions, and an ongoing legal case involving Mahmoud Khalil.
On January 14, 2026, Balint posted criticism of former President Donald Trump’s comments regarding Greenland: “Trump’s rhetoric and threats toward Greenland are extremely dangerous. Republicans must stand with us to block this insanity.”
The following day, she addressed actions taken under Secretary Noem’s leadership concerning Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE): “On Secretary Noem’s watch, ICE agents have terrorized our communities and murdered American citizens. She needs to go.”
Later that same day, Balint responded to a recent court decision involving Mahmoud Khalil: “I am heavy-hearted to learn that a federal appeals court ruled against Mahmoud Khalil. The Trump administration’s persecution of him is unconscionable. I stand with Mahmoud and the Constitution. Khalil has not been rearrested. This legal battle is not over.”
Balint has represented Vermont at-large District in Congress since 2023 after succeeding Peter Welch. Before her congressional tenure, she served in the Vermont Senate from 2017 to 2021. Born in Heidelberg, West Germany in 1968 and now residing in Brattleboro, Balint graduated from Smith College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2001.
