Rep. Becca Balint, a U.S. Congresswoman representing Vermont’s at-large district since 2023, posted a series of statements on her official social media account in early April 2026 addressing both national and holiday topics.
On April 5, Balint extended greetings to her constituents and others observing the Easter holiday, writing: “Wishing a joyful Easter to everyone celebrating today in Vermont and across the country!”
A day later, on April 6, she commented on former President Donald Trump’s policy priorities regarding military spending and healthcare access. In her post she stated: “In case you missed it last week. For Trump, there’s somehow always money for war, but never any money for healthcare. Americans cannot afford Trump’s presidency.”
On April 7, Balint criticized presidential rhetoric related to international conflict and accountability for war crimes. She wrote: “These are the ramblings of a president who has completely lost control. To speak of war crimes so casually is disgusting and extremely dangerous.”
Balint succeeded Peter Welch as Vermont’s at-large representative in Congress in 2023 after previously serving in the Vermont Senate from 2017 to 2021. She was born in Heidelberg, West Germany in 1968 and currently resides in Brattleboro. Balint graduated from Smith College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2001.
