Rep. Becca Balint, U.S. Congresswoman representing Vermont’s at-large district since 2023, has voiced strong concerns over former President Donald Trump’s recent statements and actions regarding voting systems and historical narratives in the United States.

On August 18, 2025, Balint commented on Trump’s announcement about election reforms: “Trump just announced he is leading a ‘movement’ to get rid of mail-in ballots and voting machines. He’s setting up to steal the 2026 midterms and probably the 2028 presidential. Either through dismantling our voting system or rigging the maps. Why? His cruel and reckless”.

The following day, August 19, Balint referenced her background as an educator while addressing efforts to reinterpret American history: “I’m a former history teacher so let me make it clear that attempting to rewrite and white-wash museums will not change the truth about the past. Trump has always had a complicated relationship with facts and the truth.”

On August 20, she commented on a decision aligning with Vermont’s political stance: “This decision is in line with Vermont’s values. Vermonters do not want to contribute to Trump’s authoritarian takeover of the capital city and its residents.”

Balint’s statements reflect ongoing debates in national politics over election integrity and historical interpretation. As a former Vermont state senator from 2017 to 2021, she brings experience in legislative processes. Born in Heidelberg, West Germany in 1968, Balint has lived in Brattleboro for several years and holds a BA from Smith College (https://www.smith.edu).

Her public comments are part of broader discussions among lawmakers regarding electoral processes ahead of upcoming federal elections.
