Essex Junction ranked 19th in state for resident earnings in 2017

Essex Junction ranked 19th among cities in Vermont by annual earnings per resident, according to data obtained from the U.S. Census Bureau in August.

The median income of Essex Junction residents was an inflation-adjusted $35,169 per year. Essex Junction had 4,315 households in 2017, with a population of 10,132.

The city with the highest median resident income in the state was Danville. Danville's median income was $47,788 per year after adjusting for inflation – $12,619 more than Essex Junction. It had 147 households in 2017 and a population of 368.

Castleton had the lowest annual resident income among cities in Vermont, with a median income of only $6,050 per year. That was $29,119 less than the median income in Essex Junction at the time. Castleton had 291 households in 2017 and a population of 1,357.
