16 Vermont farms have been awarded $30,000 interest free loans to upgrade farmworker housing from the Champlain Housing Trust and Vermont Housing & Conservation Board. Surveys of farmworkers in 2016 and 2018, led by the University of Vermont's Dan Baker found that housing was a significant stressor for farmworkers. Through providing the capital needed for housing upgrades - funded projects include winterization efforts and new bathrooms - the project hopes to alleviate some of this stress by improving the quality of farm housing.
