Are you a First Generation Homebuyer? Vermont Housing Finance Agency (VHFA) 's has launched a new grant program for first generation home buyers, a grant that alone is $15,000. If combined with the ASSIST program, first-generation home buyers may even receive up to $25,000 - $30,000 for down payment and closing costs. Home buyers may be eligible if their parents did not own their home growing up, or if they were placed in foster care at any point in their life.
