arlier this month RuralEdge announced they would redevelop the former Newport Convent, vacant since 2007, into 26 new housing units, with additional units planned for the former school on the property in the coming year. The Sacred Heart School and Convent overlook Lake Memphremagog and the Canadian mountains across the lake. "Adaptive reuse" is an increasingly popular and creative solution to Vermont's affordable housing shortage as we look to our shared assets that have been underutilized in years passed.
