Rep. Becca Balint, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Vermont’s at-large district, shared her views on democracy, corporate monopolies, and marriage equality through a series of tweets on December 12 and 13, 2024.

On December 12, Rep. Balint quoted former Supreme Court Justice Louis Brandeis to highlight the conflict between wealth concentration and democratic principles. She stated: "In the words of former Supreme Court Justice Louis Brandeis, we can have a democracy, or we can have most of our country's wealth in the hands of just a few. But we can't have both."

Later that day, she celebrated a judicial decision favoring Federal Trade Commission Chair Lina Khan by blocking a merger deemed harmful to consumers and workers. Rep. Balint tweeted: "Great news: a judge sided with @linakhanFTC and blocked this merger! This is a victory for both shoppers and workers. Let's keep fighting against corporate monopolies that are price gouging us."

On December 13, Rep. Balint marked the second anniversary of the Respect for Marriage Act becoming law in America with an emphasis on equality. She wrote: "Today we celebrate two years of the Respect for Marriage Act as the law of the land in America. This is about equality for everyone. It's that simple. Love wins."
