The University of Vermont announced on April 17 the completion and dedication of the Pizzagalli Support Building, a new facility at the Archie Post Athletic Complex made possible by a $2 million lead gift from Remo and Donna Pizzagalli. The $5 million project is expected to enhance the experience for student-athletes, fans, and community members who use the complex.
The opening of this building is significant as it aims to improve support for high-level athletic events and recruitment efforts. It serves nearly 300 UVM student-athletes, coaches, and staff, with an anticipated annual attendance exceeding 50,000 visits.
“This is a very exciting moment for our athletics program, and I’m incredibly appreciative of the support from Remo and Donna and the many others who have contributed so generously to the project’s completion,” said ’89, UVM’s director of athletics. “The Pizzagalli Support Building is a game-changer—we now have a modern facility that supports all of the high-level games and events that occur at the complex and annually attract tens of thousands of visitors to our campus.”
Located at the entrance to Archie Post Athletic Complex, the one-story building spans 4,700 square feet. It provides modern gameday locker rooms, an athletic training space, officials’ room, concessions area, ticketing services, restrooms, and gathering spaces for Catamount supporters. The facility supports several sports programs including field hockey, soccer, lacrosse as well as track & field competitions.
Kathleen Kelleher ’83—interim president and CEO of UVM Foundation—said: “This facility will have an immediate and lasting impact, strengthening the sense of community that defines UVM. Funding the building’s construction was truly a team effort. We are deeply grateful to the Pizzagalli family and all of the donors who made this project a reality.” Additional contributions came from alumni such as John ’68 Hilton (Men’s Soccer), Peter Bernhardt ’72 (Men’s Soccer), Sally ’88 Gregoire (Women’s Soccer) with Damon Gregoire ’91—all recognized through named spaces in or around the new building.
Remo Pizzagalli said: “This project represents everything we value—teamwork, opportunity, and giving back. We’re proud to support a facility that will serve so many student-athletes and bring people together around competition and community. UVM played an important role in our family’s life, and we hope this building helps create lasting experiences for generations of Catamounts to come.”
