The University of Vermont men’s lacrosse team defeated Binghamton 14-8 on Apr. 25 at Virtue Field, securing the No. 3 seed in the upcoming America East Men’s Lacrosse Championship.

The victory was important for Vermont as it marked Senior Day and ensured their place in the postseason tournament. The Catamounts now prepare to face Bryant Bulldogs in the semifinals.

Vermont started strong, scoring five unanswered goals in the first quarter. The team maintained control throughout most of the game, leading 8-1 at halftime after a three-goal run before the break. In the third quarter, Vermont extended its lead to nine goals entering the final period.

Head coach Chris Feifs said, “Really proud of our guys for playing hard for our seniors today on Virtue, our last home game of the season, against a conference rival that’s had our number the last two years. Just really proud of how we got the win. Not our prettiest game. But I think we fought hard for our seniors and got the win when we needed to.”

Frattaroli led all scorers with four goals—his third game this season with at least four—and Decker recorded his fifth career hat trick along with three ground balls. Toll and McCeney each finished with two goals and one assist, while Whitaker scored twice for his first multi-goal game this year.

Looking ahead, Vermont will travel to Albany to play Bryant Bulldogs in Albany’s Bob Ford Field at Tom & Mary Casey Stadium on Thursday, April 30 at 4 p.m.
