The Vermont men’s lacrosse team clinched a berth in the America East Playoffs after defeating UMass Lowell 14-10 at Cushing Field, according to an April 18 announcement. With this victory, head coach Chris Feifs became the program’s all-time winningest coach with his 76th career win.

The result holds significance for Vermont as it ensures their participation in the upcoming conference playoffs and marks a milestone achievement for Feifs. The game also highlights strong individual performances from several players.

“Very proud of the team for a hard-fought conference game on the road,” said head coach Chris Feifs. “UMass Lowell made us earn everything, and I’m glad we took care of business.”

Vermont started quickly, opening with a two-goal run before UMass Lowell responded to tie the score. The Catamounts then regained control, finishing the first quarter ahead and extending their lead through a series of scoring runs in subsequent quarters. Key contributions included Decker tallying four goals and two assists for a career-high six points, Pearson recording his second consecutive hat-trick, Toll adding three goals and two assists, and Cochran scoring his first two collegiate goals along with three assists.

Defensively, one player led Vermont with three caused turnovers while another collected five ground balls. Vermont finished with a 24-16 advantage in shots on goal.

Looking ahead, Vermont will host Binghamton Bearcats for Senior Day on Saturday, April 25 at Virtue Field. The senior ceremony is presented by the Alumni Association.
