The Vermont Catamounts women’s lacrosse team secured a 14-12 victory against UMass Lowell on April 25, clinching the Regular Season Championship and earning the No. 1 seed in the America East Women’s Lacrosse Playoffs for the first time in program history.

This achievement marks a significant milestone for Vermont, as it is both their first regular season title and their inaugural top playoff seeding. The result highlights the team’s strong performance throughout the season and sets them up to host the upcoming playoffs at Virtue Field.

Six different Catamounts registered multi-goal games during Saturday’s matchup at Cushing Field. After falling behind early, Vermont rallied with a series of scoring runs that allowed them to maintain control through much of the contest. The Catamounts outshot UMass Lowell on goal (19-18), went perfect on clear attempts (13-13), and won more draw controls (18-10).

Individual performances contributed significantly to Vermont’s success. One player notched her second hat trick of the season, while another recorded three points with two goals and one assist. Doraz led with four points—two goals and two assists—and collected a career-high ten draw controls. Trauger also added three points with two goals and one assist, while Sethi scored twice for her sixth multi-goal game this year. Cabot secured her third career multi-goal game, Wilde added two points along with a caused turnover, Godwin posted three caused turnovers and six draw controls, and Shea made nine saves—her ninth game this season with nine or more stops.

With this win, Vermont will now host the America East Women’s Lacrosse Playoffs at Virtue Field for the first time in program history. The Catamounts are set to face No. 4 seeded UMBC on Friday, May 1 at 4 p.m., with coverage available via ESPN+.
