Vermont defeated New Hampshire 15-4 in a women’s lacrosse game on Mar. 28, with three Catamounts achieving hat-tricks and the team improving its record to 6-5 overall and 2-1 in America East conference play.
The victory is significant for Vermont as it continues its season, showing resilience after facing adversity the previous week. The win also marks an important step forward as the team prepares for upcoming conference games.
According to Head Coach Sarah Dalton Graddock, “I am beyond proud of our group. I thought both sides played really well, especially having faced some adversity last week. Excited to build off many highs and have some time to recover before our next conference game.”
The match began with New Hampshire taking an early lead, but Vermont quickly responded with goals from Lindsay and other teammates to go ahead in the first quarter. Haggerty contributed multiple goals as Vermont maintained momentum into halftime with an 8-3 advantage. In the second half, Haggerty secured her hat-trick while Erskine added another hat-trick early in the fourth quarter.
Doraz led Vermont with seven points—four goals and three assists—and surpassed 100 career points during her third year at Vermont. She also led the team in draw controls (five), ground balls (three), and caused turnovers (three). Ayla Shae made ten saves for a .714 save percentage, helping limit New Hampshire’s scoring opportunities.
Looking ahead, Vermont will travel to Providence for a non-conference game against Brown on Wednesday, Apr. 1 at 5:30 p.m., which will be streamed live on NESN.
