In some parts of the country, homeless service providers are encouraging formerly houseless folks to get apartments together. While some providers admit it's not an ideal situation, case managers and advocates share how developing long-term relationships with the people they are working with, being intentional in pairing potential roommates, doing follow-up visits after they are housed, and even -in one case- using a personality matching tool has helped find some success in these new practices. Still, the process takes a long time and the tenants themselves express some reservations.
