“I was deeply saddened to learn the news about Jessica Ebbighausen, the 19 year old Rutland Police Officer who was killed in the line of duty. This brave, young Vermonter from Ira was at the very start of her career in law enforcement. She was only two months into her job, when she courageously jumped into action to pursue a fleeing vehicle with her fellow officer and lost her life while protecting Vermonters.

Jessica exemplifies the very best of Vermonters, heroically responding without hesitation to help in a dangerous situation. My heart is with the family & friends of Ms. Ebbighausen, the communities of Ira and Rutland, and with the law enforcement community throughout Vermont as it grieves this terrible loss.”
