The following day, January 21, 2025, Rep. Balint paid tribute to Shirley Chisholm's legacy as a trailblazer for Black women in Congress. She credited Chisholm as one of her heroes who inspired her political career: "56 years ago today, the ceiling was finally shattered for Black women to serve in Congress."
