Rep. Becca Balint, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Vermont's at-large district, recently shared several heartfelt and critical observations through her social media account. In a series of tweets, Balint addressed both personal stories and pressing national issues that resonate with her followers.

On April 14, 2025, Balint posted a message inviting her followers to view an interview in which she discusses multiple aspects of her life and career. She touched on topics like her coming out experience, teaching middle school, her initial foray into political office, and addressing the "moment when our democracy is under threat". The tweet encourages readers to "Take a look!" at the complete interview.

The same day, later in the afternoon, Balint turned her focus to a specific incident involving Mohsen Mahdawi, a legal resident of Vermont, who intended to finalize his U.S. citizenship. According to Balint's tweet, Mahdawi was unexpectedly apprehended by "plain-clothed, armed, individuals with their faces covered." She strongly criticized the situation as "immoral, inhumane."

The following day, on April 15, 2025, Balint escalated her criticism, expressing Vermont's outrage at the incident. She asserted her disbelief at the "masked men" actions reportedly under the Trump administration's directive to detain legal residents without evidence, saying, "I don't recognize America at this point. Release Mohsen Mahdawi NOW."

Becca Balint is a U.S. Congress member, representing Vermont's at-large district since 2023 after succeeding Peter Welch. She previously served in the Vermont Senate from 2017 to 2021. Born in Heidelberg, West Germany, Balint, 54, has been an active voice in U.S. politics, residing in Brattleboro. She is a Smith College graduate, earning her BA in 2001.
