Rep. Becca Balint, a U.S. Congress member representing Vermont’s at-large district since 2023, has expressed her views on recent political events through a series of tweets. These posts reflect her stance on actions taken by former President Donald Trump and their potential implications.
On January 22, 2025, Rep. Balint commented on an event involving Donald Trump: "On Monday, I watched as Trump took an oath to uphold the Constitution. And then immediately violated the Constitution by trying to end birthright citizenship."
Later that day, she addressed economic concerns related to tariffs imposed by Trump: "Let's talk about Trump's 25% tariffs on Canada and Mexico. We know these costs will get passed on to us. Vermonters could see prices on energy from Canada skyrocket. It's not the way to lower prices for people."
In another tweet posted the same day, Rep. Balint criticized pardons granted by Trump: "Steven Cappuccio violently beat Officer Hodges while he was stuck in a door. DJ Rodriguez attacked Officer Fanone and repeatedly shocked him in the neck with a taser. David Dempsey stomped on an officer's head and beat them with a flagpole. All pardoned by Trump. Disgraceful."
